This is a load of Sierra County scrap wood and brushy waste we'll all come to know and love as BIOMASS. This load isn't going to be buried or burned in the open, instead, it will go to the co-gen plant in Loyalton where it will be converted to electricity. Burning the biomass in the co-gen plant produces less particulate matter than burning in the open, or even in a wood stove.
The project is an effort coordinated by the
Sierra County Fire Safe and Watershed Council between the County of Sierra and the SPI co-gen plant.
