Sierra County Fire Safe and Watershed Council Recognizes the Myles

On Friday, 15 January, the board of directors of the SC Fire Safe and Watershed Council (HERE) met to recognize Dr. Robert and Jean Myles for their service to the community in development of the council.

The group met at the Golden West in Loyalton.

Jean Myles told about her initial involvement with the council.

"We looked at the wildland-urban interface maps and none of the tracts were on it; in fact even Sattley wasn’t on it." She decided council needed some organization.

She and Richard organized the bylaws, had their son Eliot, who is a contract attorney, pitch in. Eventually, the group had its non-profit corporate status, and the board organized, and we have the more stream-lined fire-safe and watershed council we have today.

Those present included FSWC board members, and spouses and important friends.  Those present included the Myles son Malcom and his wife (sorry!), the Bucks, the Goicoecheas, the Huebners, the Freschis, Cindy Noble, Don Russell, and Robert Eschelman.

Thanks to the Myles!
