Wait Until Spring 011611
We’re entering the doldrums of Winter. The Nights are numbing, the days discouraging, the cabin gets closer every day.
That’s why this ain’t the time!
It ain’t the time to decide you hate your spouse or resent your kids.
It ain’t the time to turn on neighbors and cousins.
It ain’t the time to tell off that SOB of a boss.
It ain’t the time to covet anything your neighbor has.
It ain’t the time to be honest with your brother-in-law and sure not your sister-in-law.
It ain’t the time to tell your kid what he’s going to be when he grows up.
It ain’t the time to remind your daughter she’ll look like her granny someday.
It ain’t the time to get honest with your probation officer.
It ain’t the time to be checkin’ to see if your toe fits in the trigger guard.
It ain’t the time to register with a major political party.
It ain’t the time to decide anything, or sign anything, or make a vow to God Almighty.
Just be a little patient. First comes the Annual Yuba Pass Chili Cookoff. Then come blackbirds, then, by golly, it’s Spring again! A time of renewed energy and hopefulness and faith. Do it then.
Now ain’t the time!
