Two Motorcyclists Die near Convict Flat 050212

Sierra County Sheriff John Evans reports that the California Highway Patrol reported to an accident on Highway 49 near Convict Flat.  According to the report a 45 year old motorcyclist from South Lake Tahoe was traveling south bound when for some reason not now clear, he lost control of his motorcycle which slid into the northbound lane where another, unrelated motorcyclist was approaching.  The second cyclist, a 52 year old man from Reno, apparently tried to take evasive actions and collided with the guardrail, and was then ejected from the bike and travelled about 45 feet before striking the ground. 

The names of the men are being withheld until notification of next of kin.
