General Motors has sold Hummer to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery of China.
The military vehicle was made by AM General which was purchased by GM in 1999. During the Bush-Cheney-Himmler administration gas guzzling militaristic vehicles were all the rage, there were even tax cuts for them, but now they’ve gone the way of the waterboard.
Tengzhong makes farm and construction equipment and power plants.
Hummer will remain in the U.S., largely for the convenience of the Chinese, who will own the U.S. soon anyway.
Editor’s note: I just love reality, which is so much crazier than anything I could make up!
