News from TNF: New Yuba District Ranger
Welcome to Genice Froehlich — new District Ranger on the Yuba River Ranger District! Genice comes from the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in northern Arizona where she has been for the past 9 years. She served as the Forest National Environmental Policy Act/Environmental Coordinator and as the Forest Plan Revision Biologist. She also was a District Biologist on the A-S and District Biologist and Wildlife Staff on the Coronado National Forest in Arizona. Genice served a detail as Acting District Ranger on the Sandia Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico and has been a member of the Eastern Arizona Type 2 Incident Management Team since 2003. She has a M.S. in Wildlife Management from the University of Arizona. Genice has some California connections as well, having received her B.S from UC Davis and an AA from Lake Tahoe Community College.
The District Ranger is the line officer responsible for decisions and management of the Yuba River District which includes National Forest land in western Sierra and Nevada Counties in addition to eastern Yuba County. This position had been filled by Jean Masquelier who received a promotion to the Forest Service National Office in Washington DC.
