Weather Frightful

Prospect Report: Weather outside frightful; fire delightful 121910

As we warned in our last edition, it has snowed and rained and snowed and rained for days now.  In the low areas, pastures and roads are flooded, as streams and culverts become blocked with ice and sodden snow.

Highway 49 has been alternatively clotted with wet snow and covered in a coating of ice.    The road through the Sattley side of the Valley struggled to stay above water.

Downieville residents are keeping a wary eye on the rivers.

There were numerous problems on Highway 70, as the Portola Reporter reports.

There will be a lunar eclipse on the night of the 20th/21st, but we probably won’t be able to see it.

The weather will continue to be seriously crappy today and tonight, tapering off a little Monday night, but will stay wet right through Christmas day.
