Sierra Nevada Conservancy Governing Board Holds
Quarterly Meeting in Sacramento, June 2
(Auburn) – The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) will hold its quarterly governing board meeting in Sacramento June 2. The board will review the latest draft of the SNC’s strategic plan update and will provide guidance on how the agency should award its remaining bond grant dollars.
The strategic plan, which will guide the SNC’s activities for the next several years, has already received wide stakeholder review and input. It includes the following focus areas:

<!-• Preservation of Ranches and Agricultural Lands
<!-• Watershed Protection and Restoration
<!-• Promotion of Sustainable Tourism and Recreation
<!-• Long-term Effectiveness of the SNC
The SNC has approximately $10 million remaining from its allocation from the Proposition 84 Bond Act of 2006. Since the program’s inception, the SNC board has authorized 221 grants totaling approximately $40 million. The board will review staff proposals and make decisions about how it will allocate the remaining funds over the next two years.
The board meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the California Department of Food and Agriculture auditorium, 1220 N Street, Sacramento. The public is welcome to attend. Additional information about the meeting can be found at www.sierranevada.ca.gov.
About the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, Governing Board
Created in 2004, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy is a state agency whose mission is to improve the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada region. The SNC’s main source of operational support is from the Environmental License Plate Fund.
The SNC Governing Board meets quarterly around the Sierra Nevada region, which spans 25 million acres, encompasses all or part of 22 counties and runs from the Oregon border on the north, to southeast of Bakersfield. Six of the 13 voting members are county supervisors from within the SNC region.
